Stars align at the Big Dome for the SIGLA MVPO 2026 Celebrity All-Star Basketball Game
by GLEN P. SIBONGA
THE highly anticipated Celebrity All-Star Basketball Game of the SIGLA MVPO 2026 took center stage at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last February 24, uniting some of the nation’s most influential personalities in a powerful celebration of health, active living, and the playful spirit that defines the MVP Olympics (MVPO).
More than a showcase of star power on the court, the event underscored a growing movement that inspires communities to embrace wellness, camaraderie, and the joy of sport, all within the iconic Big Dome.
Building on a Historic Start
The high-octane energy of the All-Star Game follows the massive success of the MVPO 2026 Opening Ceremony. Held last February 20 at the TSB Meralco Grounds, it was recognized as one of the most attended opening ceremonies in the history of the MVPO, setting a powerful precedent for the weeks of competition to follow.
Excellence in Action: The All-Star Showdown
While the atmosphere was celebratory, the gameplay reflected a professional-grade dedication to sportsmanship. Guided by PBA legends and supported by dedicated leadership, the teams showcased the discipline and vitality that the MVPO inspires.
The White Team, led by Meralco’s Company's Compliance Officer and Senior Vice President, Atty. William S. Pamintuan and helmed by Coach Luigi Trillo of the Meralco Bolts, featured standout performances from David Licauco, Derek Ramsay, JC De Vera, Kevin Dasom, Marco Gallo, Michael Ver, Boom Labrusca, Prince Clemente, Martin Venegas, Kych Minemoto, and Dylan Menor.
In a thrilling matchup, they faced the Blue Team, managed by Mr. Ricky Vargas, PBA Chairman and PLDT’s Head of the Business Transformation Group, and coached by 10-time PBA Champion Coach Jojo Lastimosa. The Blue Team’s roster showcased the impressive skills of Wendell Ramos, Diego Loyzaga, Lance Carr, Joao Constancia, Prince Carlos, Cedrick Juan, Ryan Eigenmann, Xavier Ramos, and Rabin Angeles. Paulo Angeles showed up to support his team but failed to play the game because of injury.
In the end, Blue Team emerged victorious and took home the championship trophy.
Joining the celebration to cheer on their peers and support the collective journey toward wellness were special A-lister celebrities including Concert Queen Pops Fernandez, Dennis Trillo, Enrique Gil, Herlene Budol, and other big stars who were at the courtside to show solidarity with their fellow artists and the MVP community.
The audience were also delighted to witness the sexy dance number of Andrea Brillantes together with the G-Force, the medley of songs by Jed Madela and Jona, and the Bagets The Musical production number.
A Unified Vision for "Sigla"
The All-Star Game serves as a key pillar of the "Sigla" mission—the MVP Group’s commitment to foster a lifestyle of energy and well-being across its diverse portfolio, including Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), PLDT, Smart-Maya, Meralco, Metro Pacific Health, Philex Mining, Maynilad, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, and MediaQuest.
Mr. Manuel V. Pangilinan (MVP), Chairman of the MVP Group, shared his pride in the community’s shared vision:
“Sports have always been a powerful way to bring people together. Through the MVPO, we continue to celebrate discipline, passion, and the collective spirit that drives our group forward.”
Inspiring the MVP Community
Beyond the final score, the game was a testament to the "Sigla" spirit, the belief that wins are formed in the energy ignited and the joy shared.
Ms. Chaye Cabal-Revilla, MPIC Executive Director, Chief Finance, Risk, and Sustainability Officer, Metro Pacific Health Tech Corp President and CEO, and SIGLA MVPO 2026 Chairwoman, reflected on the impact of the gathering:
“Hosting the MVP Olympics 2026 has been truly meaningful for us at MPIC. The energy and unity we’ve seen throughout this event show how a shared commitment to well-being can bring our community together in powerful ways.”
The SIGLA MVPO 2026 Celebrity All-Star Game stands as a landmark cultural high point, fueling the momentum for the remaining games and connecting industries, icons, and employees through a shared heartbeat of excellence.
