'About Us But Not About Us' humakot ng awards sa unang Summer MMFF; Direk Jun Lana, Romnick, Elijah tumanggap ng mga parangal

Dinomina ng pelikulang "About Us But Not About Us" ang kauna-unahang Summer Metro Manila Film Festival awards night matapos nitong humakot ng sampung parangal sa major, technical, at special jury prize categories.

Nangunguna sa awards na ito ang Best Picture para sa pelikulang ito na produced by The IdeaFirst Company, Octobertrain Films, and Quantum Films.

Inuwi naman ni Direk Jun Robles Lana ang Best Director at Best Screenplay awards.

Ang isa sa mga bida ng "About Us But Not About Us" na si Romnick Sarmenta ang itinanghal na Best Actor. Wish namin sana na mag-tie sina Romnick at Elijah Canlas sa parangal na ito. Hindi man ito natupad pero kinilala pa rin ang husay ni Elijah matapos igawad sa kanya ang Special Jury Prize. Kaya wagi pa rin ang dalawang aktor na kahanga-hanga sa pelikulang ito.

Ang iba pang awards na nakuha ng "About Us But Not About Us" ay Best Cinematography (Neil Daza), Best Editing (Lawrence Ang), Best Sound (Armand de Guzman), Best Musical Score (Teresa Barrozo), at Best Production Design (Marxie Maolen Fadul).

Nag-post naman ng pasasalamat sa Facebook ang producer ng movie na si Direk Perci Intalan ng The IdeaFirst Company.

Ayon sa FB post ni Direk Perci, "THANK YOU!!!! ALL OF YOU!!! ALL WHO SUPPORTED US AND BELIEVED IN WHAT WE’RE DOING NO MATTER HOW CRAZY! 

"And to the skeptics who said we should just do what audiences want: these days who can say for sure what audiences want? But we know what they deserve. They deserve what we prepare with passion, with dedication, with imagination and with the best that every member of the team can give. Then you pray that the audience sees it, feels ít and loves it.

"And of course to Jun, thank you for the genius that you are. For creating Eric and Lance and Marcus that are so perfectly flawed and yet human and, for lack of a better word, cathartic. Yes they’re about all of us — and not all of us (had to say it). It’s been quite a journey getting this one done. But look at how far we’ve come. It’s an honor being your producer and your partner in making movies like these."

Nagsimula ang Summer MMFF noong Abril 8 at mapapanood ang walong entries sa mga sinehan nationwide hanggang sa Abril 18.

Pagkatapos mapanood sa Summer MMFF, bibiyahe naman ang "About Us But Not About Us" patungong London para lumahok sa Queer East Festival sa Abril 29.
