'About Us But Not About Us' mapapanood na sa Summer MMFF, byaheng London pa sa Queer East Festival

Inanunsyo sa social media ng The IdeaFirst Company, producer ng "About Us But Not About Us," na pagkatapos ng nationwide screening sa Pilipinas ng naturang pelikula sa Abril 8-18 bilang isa sa official entries sa Summer Metro Manila Film Festival, susunod naman itong bibyahe sa London para sa Queer East Festival sa April 29.

Napakaganda nga ng description ng "About Us But Not About Us" na nakalathala sa website ng international filmfest na queereast.org.uk, "In this experimental mystery-drama from the Philippines, literature student Lance has dinner with his university professor Eric, who is gay and coming to terms with the recent death of his partner. Their trip to a restaurant in Manila begins innocuously enough, with the enthusiastic Lance gratefully acknowledging his mentor’s help and encouragement. 

"But as disturbing revelations about the past begin to emerge, the encounter evolves into a venomous battle of wills. Romnick Sarmenta and Elijah Canlas are outstanding in this tense, claustrophobic work about false narratives, distorted memories, and the masks we wear in order to project an image to others. 

"Shooting largely in one location, director Jun Robles Lana exploits Covid-19 restrictions to dramatic effect, with the film playing out in real time over a restaurant sitting of 90 minutes."

Napanood na namin ang "About Us But Not About Us" at talaga namang bumilib kami sa galing sa pagganap nina Romnick at Elijah na parehong mayroong dual roles. Ang galing-galing nila, promise!

Napakahusay ng pagkakasulat ng script at direksyon ng pelikula ni Direk Jun na hindi mo aakalaing papasok ang elemento ng psychological thriller mula sa simpleng kumustuhan at kuwentuhan lang sa umpisa. Tututukan mo talaga ang bawat bitaw ng salita nina Romnick at Elijah habang nagde-develop ang istorya.

Nakabibilib na nakagawa sila ng ganito kagandang pelikula sa gitna pandemya. Bongga talaga!

Kaya naman pala nanalo ang "About Us But Not About Us" ng Critics' Picks Best Film sa Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival 2022, isa sa pinakamalaking A-list film festivals sa Europe. Umani rin ito ng mga papuri sa mga sinalihan nitong international filmfests na kinabibilangan ng 43rd Fantasporto sa Portugal, at 30th Queer Screen Mardi Gras Film Festival sa Sydney.

Produced by The IdeaFirst Company, Octobertrain Films, and Quantum Films, ang "About Us But Not About Us" ay mapapanood sa mga sinehan nationwide simula sa Abril 8 bilang bahagi ng kauna-unahang Summer Metro Manila Film Festival. Abangan din ito ng ating mga kababayan sa London sa pagsali nito sa Queer East Festival sa Abril 29.
